The peaceful community of the coastal Goon Docks in Oregon faces imminent foreclosure to make way for a new golf course. However, when a band of local childhood friends who call themselves the "Goonies", find unexpectedly the notorious pirate "One-Eyed" Willy's old treasure map riddled with hints and clues to his fabled loot, an opportunity to save their homes will emerge. Before long, a race against time and the criminal family of the Fratellis will begin; one that will lead the Goonies to an underground maze of dangerous booby traps, all designed by Willy himself to protect his fortune. The goonies cast today. The goonies cast. The goonish. I loved The Goonies growing up. There was something about small town living and that 80s charm that you couldn't get enough of. It was an innocent time, and in this generation, I'm not even sure if kids have any kind of crazy adventures with all of their iPads and everything else.
The 80s were a great time to be a kid, and this movie definitely shows that. It was a time when kids just got together to go have fun, and possibly cause mischief. In this case here, it's to stop evil bad guys from hurting them and saving their homes from foreclosure and having to move away.
Watching this movie now does bring back some serious nostalgia, even if a lot of the dialogue is really cheesy. Perhaps the best aspect of this film is the adventure tied to it. Watching a bunch of kids overcome obstacles that stumped adults and the hilarity that comes with trying to outwit their nitwit enemies, the Fratellis, makes for a silly and entertaining adventure! Kids of today might not be able to get into this, but if you have kids that are still young enough that they just enjoying watching a movie with you, this is still great family fun.

The goonies mikey. The gognies chaussee. The goonies. The goonies soundtrack. As a kid, I saw this one at the theater. As a kid it is a really fun and funny action ride. A bunch of kids getting together find a map in the attic of one of the kids and they decide to see what they can find. Meanwhile, some criminals are loose and they find out about the map as well later on as their hideout is the starting point. A very good movie for kids, but it is just ok for adults, though it is a lot more watchable for adults than most of the kid oriented movies these days. Though there are a few instances that may be to dark for the smaller tykes out there as there are a couple of dead bodies here and there. Looking back at this movie, one thing is interesting. When seeing this movie as a kid, it seemed like their adventure was really long and they were underground a bunch. When I saw it later again, they really weren't in the underground chamber all that long. One thing though I would like to see is the octopus scene that was cut out of the movie, but the one kid refers to at the end (when the kid refers to it should have been cut out as well.
